Information on Bellefield Presbyterian Church:
- Bellefield Church is made up of a mixture of people from varying countries, backgrounds and denominations.
- We hold contemporary, Christ-centered worship services Sunday mornings at 9:00 and 10:30 a.m. during the school year with an average attendance of about 350, and at 10:00 a.m. during the summer.
- Our goal is to be witnesses of Jesus Christ and to disciple His followers in the university community
- As a Presbyterian denomination we are affiliated with the Presbyterian Church-U.S.A. (PCUSA)
Ministries to the community
- One of the vital areas of ministry at Bellefield is an outreach to university students through the Cornerstone Christian Fellowship.
- Our Food Pantry, administered by the church deacon board, are available to qualifying residents of the Oakland zip code on the last Sunday of each month.
- The Pittsburgh Region International Student Ministry (P.R.I.S.M.) is housed at Bellefield; they develop relationships with international students, teach English classes, sponsor trips, and provide Bible studies.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to be witnesses of Jesus Christ making committed disciples of all peoples, in the neighborhoods where we live and in the university community at our doorstep.
Objectives and goals
- Cultivate professional and lay leaders
- Cultivate professional and lay leaders who will clarify and share Bellefield's vision, simplify our goals, and equip and empower all to execute them effectively.
- Evangelize unbelievers and retain new members
- Develop and implement innovative and intentional strategies to evangelize unbelievers and retain members from our current congregation students studying at the universities, professionals residing or working in Oakland, and people living in outlying neighborhoods.
- Develop disciples of Christ
- Encourage and help all believers of all ages develop a life-long, intimate, trust relationship with Jesus Christ and with others in our Christian community.
- Pursue excellence in worship
- Pursue excellence in worship to sustain the health and vitality of our church, to attract new people, and to keep members invested and involved in the life of the church.
- Integrate students and members
- Serve college students in Pittsburgh by providing a clear vision for student and member integration by offering more opportunities for members to serve and interact with students, and by offering more opportunities for students to participate in the church life.
